St. Joseph High School
Takes Home the
Gold Cup at the 68th Annual Pittsburgh Regional Science and Engineering Fair
2007

The St. Joseph High School science team caught the
attention of the crowd as they arrived at the Awards ceremony on Saturday
morning, many dressed in khakis and light blue shirts declaring themselves to be
"nerds" belonging to the SJHS Science Department. By the end of the Awards
Ceremony, everyone knew we were more than just a group of well-dressed
competitors. SJHS walked away with the Senior Division Gold Cup declaring
us to be the high school with the most winning entries.
We were the team that won six category awards
which includes six medals and a total of $425 in cash, over a $130,000 in
scholarship monies, $250 and five medals in sponsor awards, two Associate
Scientists Trophies, an opportunity for one of our students to be honored a the
Society of Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh Awards dinner, an opportunity for
one of our students to enter the U.S. Stockholm Junior Water Competition at the
State level, an affiliate sponsor award and a collegiate award.
