When the members of St. Joseph Parish founded
the high school in 1915, they launched a success story without parallel.

Now the oldest Catholic high school in the Diocese of Pittsburgh, St.
Joseph High School currently educates 164 students from two dioceses, 30
parishes, four counties and 18 school districts.
St. Joseph High School has been educating students for nearly 100 years
in academics, the arts and athletics. We regularly turn out National
Merit recognized students, National History Day winners, award-winning
theatrical productions, WPIAL championship basketball teams - and solid
citizens. In fact, St. Joseph High School was recently chosen as one
of the top 50 Catholic high schools in the nation.
St. Joseph High School is an extraordinary institution which currently
has no gymnasium, no theatre, no playing fields and which is almost hidden
in the wing where we rent 11 classrooms in Our Lady of the Most Blessed
Sacrament Parish Elementary School.
The next chapter in our success story will be the construction of two
buildings - one for athletics and the other for academics and fittingly at
its heart, a prayer chapel. The project has been divided into two
phases so that we can begin construction as soon as possible. We will
raise $3,500,000 for Phase One.
Phase One, the athletic building, will benefit students in both St.
Joseph High School and Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Elementary
Schools, as well as provide space for social and athletic functions in the
local community.
Phase One will include regulation size
court with seating for 800 spectators, which converts into two regulation
size courts for 225 spectators. There will also be a universal
exercise room, men's and women's locker rooms, official's rooms, a press
area and storage areas. Two lobby areas will welcome guests, as well
as a private VIP/Alumni room, kitchen and restrooms. In addition,
Phase One will include classrooms for art, foreign language and instrumental
music and two offices.

The second phase will further enhance our campus environment with the
addition of an academic building. Phase Two will include three
laboratory spaces: one for chemistry/biology, one for physics and a third
for computer science. Phase Two will also include a history classroom,
a lecture/choral room, a guidance office, faculty room, rooftop garden and a
chapel.
The new buildings will be energy and water efficient, use recycled and
less toxic materials and promote healthier indoor air. By making
construction choices that uphold the careful use of earth's resources, these
building will be among the first "green" school buildings in western
Pennsylvania.
Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish will donate the land
bordered by Liberty, Pacific and Montana Avenues for the academic and
athletic buildings.
Your support is needed now more than
ever. We invite all people who believe in St. Joseph High School to
become partners in our efforts to build these facilities.
We promise to be good stewards, using your contributions wisely and
carefully.
Gifts made to the campaign are tax deductible. Many donors make an
initial significant payment but then complete their pledge over three years.
There is also a convenient electronic funds transfer option that is popular
with many donors.
When we have 63% of the funding in hand, we will break ground. The
architects estimate 9 to 12 months to complete construction.
In the athletic building lobby we will express our gratitude with a
permanent listing of all campaign donors. Naming opportunities are
available. Please see the descriptions below.
We are asking each and every alum and
friend of the school to give at a level that reflects generosity for him or
her. Whether your family consolidates its gifts and names a
room or you fund a bleacher or locker in honor of a loved one or you buy
virtual bricks online at
www.seejoegrow.com, your gift
is appreciated and vital to this campaign.
Ultimately, we are not just building a
gymnasium, we are building the future of St. Joseph High School.
